Post-COVID Reopening Information

Dear Valued Patient,

Hopefully this letter finds you and your family in good health and spirits.  We have all been through a lot as a community over the past few months and we are looking forward to resuming more normal routines.  We will once again be offering nonemergency dental treatment beginning on June 8th.

We understand that many people had appointments affected by our recent closure. If you require more urgent attention please contact the office. Otherwise, please do not call to reschedule. We will reach out to you regarding your appointment so please be patient with us. We are working hard and this process will take some time to complete.

The next time you come to the office you will notice some changes that have been made to help protect our patients and team members.

  • All team members will be wearing new protective equipment that will include masks and face shields. Don’t worry, it is still the same smiling faces underneath!
  • Please wear your own mask at all times while inside. A team member will tell you when you can remove it for treatment.
  • We will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some screening questions. We will ask the same questions when you arrive for your appointment.
  • When you arrive, please remain in your vehicle. Text (616) 226-4047 to let us know you are here. A team member will take your temperature and bring you directly into your prepared treatment room when it is your turn. We will honor your time but may request a slight delay to maintain distancing with other patients.
  • Only patients will be permitted to enter the office. All other visitors should remain outside until the appointment is complete.• Our reception area will not currently offer coffee, magazines or toys as these items are difficult to disinfect. We will have hand sanitizer available for you and we encourage you to use it.
  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. We appreciate your understanding as this may mean we have fewer choices to offer for appointment times.

Infection control has always been a top priority in our office.  We rely heavily on recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to help insure the safety and comfort of our patients, team members and families.  During this time of increased concern for health and safety we are constantly monitoring our protocols to make sure we are following the most current recommendations.  We are also more frequently cleaning the common areas in the office.  Rest assured that we are doing everything we can to provide a safe and comfortable environment for your next appointment.

We look forward to seeing you and are happy to answer any questions about your upcoming appointment. You may contact us at (616) 957-1731 or email office@grandrapidssmiles.com.

Sincerely,

Drs. David and Megan Hernly and the team at Hernly Family and Cosmetic Dentistry
